Hot Rod of the Week

And now for a little tongue-in-cheek fun... Today's hot rod of the week! This morning, on my way back from giving a private photography lesson, I ran across this red beauty.

There are a few fine points that set this one above the rest. The obvious first is the coffee-can sized tail pipe. You should have heard the rich tones coming from this 1.4 liter 4-banger. It sounded more like a Lambourghini or a Lawn Boy or something. Next, we have the remnants of (what I imagine to be) an Al Gore bumper sticker on a very faded bumper to match the faded red paint. I did not photoshop this picture at all. And finally, the well-placed strip of duct-tape under the left tail light.

I was just glad to have been quick enough to get this picture before the light turned green and he burned rubber out of view.

I saw gasoline prices here dropped to $1.97 today. I guess they know everyone's planning road trips now, so they drop the prices and then raise them as soon as school's out for the summer. (And for every holiday between now and then.)

Good job on lowering gas prices as another incentive to come to OK next month - really the baby was enough!

I guess you've been in OK too long! These kinds of cars are a regular sight in P. County! Just look in my driveway and you will see a red car VERY similar to that one!! It could use some duct tape, but never thought of it! It's working on 250,000 miles-as far as the moon!! And it looks like it, too! BUT it has been a blessing!

Aw, Mrs. A, now I feel bad! I wasn't picking on it because it was an older car, I was picking on them because they had hot-rodded it up with a big tailpipe as if it were a racing car. Hope I didn't offend anyone with my poor attempt at humor.

Thanks to the Sangree brothers, Mrs. A will never be quite comfortable in her new sweater OR her old red car =)

Hey, guys! You didn't offend me AT ALL! I love a joke and I love my OLD car! Just wish I had a fancy tailpipe (AND a new sweater!)Please don't feel bad at all, Christian or Sean. You two are fun to kid and I love your blogs! I especially laughed this morning when I saw my old red car's twin in OK! But did you see my NEW car I posted back in Oct? A 1999 Buick Park Ave. with leather seats and tons of bells & whistles! Ashleigh inherited the old red one and now it will be the twins (if it lasts much longer!)

Yes, I did see your new Buick posted a while back. Very nice. Leather is so luxurious! I don't have it in my Avalon, but maybe my next car. =) When you get older, it makes it easieir to get in and out of the seat. Speaking of, I think I'm getting older: All of a sudden I like quiet, smooth-driving automatic cars over the loud, fast, bumpy ones. =) Old age is setting in!
