Borat Comes to the US & A

Apparently, there's a TV show on HBO that this guy does regularly, but his movie is soon to be released. This is about the funniest thing I've seen in a while. He's faking an Eastern European accent and getting away with murder (almost). =)

Check out the trailer here. This isn't intellectual humor. It's actually kinda crass and degrading, but it cracks me up. Please don't be offended!

Waterslides

Talk about a fun Saturday! We went to the waterpark last weekend (I think I already told you about it) and finally got the pictures back. Check out this one of the waterslide!

Micah won the award for successfully falling off the tube every single time he went down, even on the kids slides. =) Poor guy's face is probably still sore, not to mention the nice gash he got on his chin that probably needed a couple of stitches.

More pictures can be seen here, but of course this picture is the best one.

Broken Rib(s), CD-Release

Well, I don't know for 100% sure since I don't have an X-ray proving it, but if this isn't a broken rib, I don't know what is. It's been two weeks and my ribs are still too sore to touch! Had to skip yesterday's soccer game since last week's game really seemed to set my recovery back a good bit. It's been over 2 weeks and my rib hurts more this week than it did the first week. Ah well. I don't think anything can be done about it since I obviously don't have a punctured lung and they can't put my entire rib-cage in a cast, so I'll get over it on my own in a few weeks hopefully. I guess I should start taking calcium.

This weekend was a lot of fun... We helped Holly's brother Benjamin with his new CD release. We did the photography (pictures forthcoming) and the pictures turned out really great. The CD looks really professional despite putting it all together in the last 3 days and having such a small budget for it. We had a lot of talent donating their time on it, so it's a top-quality album. Check out his "5ifty Years" song at: http://www.myspace.com/benheard.

We're really looking forward to my brother's (Sean's) visit in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to catch up on the details from his recent conclusion to hiking the entire Appalachian Trail. If you haven't checked out his journal, it's a great read... He's very well written and his photos are awesome. His journal can be read here.

Storm Clouds

How about that storm that came through tonight!?! We all love a good storm and today was no exception. The rain was much appreciated and the sound of the thunder made for a great atmosphere for a friendly game of Canasta between my lovely bride and I.

Before the rain started pounding, I couldn't help but run out and get some pictures of the fast-moving clouds. Thought I'd share them with you. I'm using them as my wallpaper now... They rotate every 30 minutes. =) I've been thinking about possibly doing some special pictures mainly for computer wallpapers. Let me know what you think!

You can click on the pictures for larger versions. They're very sharp.

What a nice day...

Today was remarkable for 2 major reasons.

1. I picked up my car from the shop today. Guy Shepherd, at Shepherd Automotive, is such a great mechanic! He fixed a pesky problem that I've been dealing with for weeks and that the dealer couldn't figure out, no matter how much money I threw at them. =) What do the dealers know... Take your car to Shepherd Automotive! My friend Guy will take great care of you and your car. I really appreciate that he's careful with everything... my wheels, paint, etc. He's just one of those especially thoughtful people who takes care of your car like it's his own. Check out his website: www.ShepherdAutomotive.com.

2. The second reason is that I forgot my phone on silent all day. Nothing stresses me out like a constantly-ringing phone. I just can't stand it! I used to love the novelty of a cell phone... Being able to reach my friends and be reached by them all the time, no matter where I am. I've come to hate the confounded device. "Electronic leash" doesn't begin to describe how I feel about it. And with large families, it's only compounded. I'll get the same message delivered three times in a row by three different people. Argh! One of my pet peeves is having to repeat myself and cell phones are just perfect instruments to force you to repeat yourself over and over again...

Okay, I'll cut myself short and jump down off of my soap box. I was talking about how wonderful today was... See how cell phones can make a good thing negative so quickly?! =) So, at 4:30pm today, I checked my phone for the time and noticed that I'd missed like 8 calls and had several voice messages waiting for me. What a great feeling to realize that I had been uninterrupted all day by a buzzing on my belt. Everyone has a cell phone (or two!) now, so I'm sure you know what I 'm talking about, right?

Soccer

I joined a soccer club last week. It's been high school since I last played seriously and even back then I'm not sure how seriously I played. =) But I'm competitive and I'll improve and it will help keep me active and in shape.

We got together earlier this week and kicked the ball around together (12 of us on the team). Looks like it will be a great group and fun company. Most of them are like me in that they used to play and are just now getting back into it after years of getting old and out of shape. I think playing Ultimate Frisbee has helped a lot in keeping me at some level of fitness, but it's amazing how little running it takes to get me winded.

Edmond/OKC seems to be really big on soccer, moreso than many other places I've lived. There are plenty of outdoor fields to play on (with goals) and lots of indoor soccer-plex arenas to play in as well. I joined an indoor league, so we'll be playing with teams of 5, plus the goalie. That's good, because we have a sub for each player and we'll only have to play a few minutes at a time and we can sub out. =)

Game starts at 6pm today, so I'm going to take a nap. Was up until 2AM trying to figure out how to publish, share and subscribe to calendars so Holly and I could automatically keep up with our several calendars, so church came really early this morning.

Popularity

Getting married is bad for one's popularity. Not that I really care (maybe that's the real reason why my popularity has waned?) but it's been interesting to see the cold hard numbers showing that Addie's blog is twice as popular as my own. =) I guess I'll have to get used to that, especially if Addie ends up looking as beautiful as her Mom. We have both shotguns already loaded.

Seriously, though, marriage is just one of those major life changes resulting in old friends not keeping in touch as well. I try to keep up with all of my close friends, but after the 3rd or 4th year of calling on their birthdays, etc. and never getting any calls from them, you can't help but rethink the relationship and wonder if maybe it's a bit too lopsided? I've taken out more than a few birthdays from my calendar because of what I just described and it's kinda sad to do so. Ah well. You'd think I would be used to it by now, having made like 12 big moves/relocations in my life so far. Okay, I think I've gone a bit off-subject.

Well done, Addie. I'm proud to be your Dad.

I'm On A Mac Now...

Just from the subject line, PC users all over the world who are reading my blog are thinking, "Oh, this is one of those Mac enthusiasts." Ha ha! It's funny how PC users (myself included up until this year) discount all of the wonderful things Mac users say about Macs.

You have to ask yourself at least one question... Have you ever heard of a Mac user enthusiastically switching over to PC? No, it's not that all Mac users are wired just a little bit off. Macs are just great machines! The more we learn about mine, the more impressed we are with it. People everywhere have been programmed to think that all computers are vulnerable in several ways: viruses, hackers and spyware. Well, say hello to the Mac! Not vulnerable to any of those three. Oh, it's a beautiful thing.

This weekend I completed my migration to Mac. We have an iMac at home and I use a PowerBook at the office and out and about. It's been great so far and I'm excited at how it's already made life simpler for us.
